What: In this class, you will learn some fundamentals of character design for animation. We will go over sillhouettes and shape language, expressive character design, the basics of orthographic turns, as well as some key elements to include in professional character sheets for production.

We will work through a mock project brief, for which you will design a character with the needs of animation in mind. Come with questions if you have them - all skill levels welcome!

What to Bring: A sketchbook and drawing supplies (digital drawing pads will work as well), pencils and paper will also be available.

About the Artist: Kyana (she/they) is a multidisciplinary artist with two years of experience as a Character and Prop designer for Nickelodeon on the Rugrats reboot and Fairly Odd Parents: A New Wish. She has over 5 years experience designing toys and character-heavy illustrations for inflatables and costumes as a Sr. Product Designer. When it comes to personal artwork, they love to create surreal illustrations in ink, but character design is a fond passion in any work they create.
